A DAWN BRIDAL EDITORIAL SHOOT A series of images shot at dawn back in late fall/early winter in Franklin TN. Steve is an amazing photographer and has nudged me into dawn shoots - which is a miracle, in and of itself getting to the studio to do makeup and hair at 4 am to get to shoot the dawn light. Brave model Lauren Staggs is perfection. I chose pastel makeup colors for the cool dawn light to warm colors to compliment the fall colors in the background. I love these images. January is sometimes a little .... hard - you're not tan enough and your hair is a bit drier. like your skin. The winter blahs set in for some of us - next to a month long vaca in Miami, which sounds AMAZING! I highly recommend considering upping your beauty tricks - namely add a little color and maybe change up some of your products. These are a few of my favorite POSH brands - of course there are many price points from other wonderful less expensive brands you can substitute - this gives you a general idea of what I'm adding to my new winter trick bag ;) I'm opting for a vivid red/blue lipstick - a paler cream blush - mat foundation - shimmery classic golden brown eye - smokey liner instead of a hard black - full dark long lush lashes - all trends that work for my particular skin at the moment. Break out of your old ways and into something brand new for 2013 - it's that time of year! I'm a huge fan of Make Up For Ever - and their foundations are some of the absolute best - every pro I know uses at least one of their formulations. I'm loving this MAT VELVET for this time of year - it's classic, highly pigmented and a little bit goes a long, long way. LOVELY VELVETY finish. Be certain to use the right tools for the job. I'm using my Make Up For Ever pro foundation brush 30N. You will have a flawless finish, use less product and be certain to cover every blemish and flaw. One of the best brush lines on the market. Invest in yourself and always clean your brushes weekly with gentle soap/shampoo - rinse well - never soak - and lie flat to dry. They will last you for a very long time. In the winter months, and especially with a more mat foundation such as MUFE MAT VELVET, I rather love a more dewy cream blush - and this one by TWO FACED is very easy to blend, lasts long without looking greasy. Gives me just the right FLUSH of color to go with my rather bold choice of lipstick - keep it light on the cheeks if you're going bolder on your lip or eye. This color is perfect for my light ivory skin - TWO FACED Full Bloom Ultra Flushed Blush Cocoa Rose. The cocoa/neutral is just enough flush without it being too red or pink. I love this amazing color by Dior - as all of their lipsticks - they make some of the best in the world in my view - I like to apply this lightly with my finger like a stain and press it into my lips to give a bitten look - perfect for winter without being TOO perfect. Of course you can use your lipstick brush for a more defined look for evening as well. Rouge Dior - Daisy Plum 976 - a golden berry plum. Tres Chic. LORAC makes incredible makeup products - and their eyeshadows are some of the softest, blendable shadows on the market. I carry their entire line of shadows - and this LITTLE BLACK PALETTE is eyeshadow royalty. Everyone should have this palette in their beauty kit. I like to use the medium light color all over my lid, line lightly on my upper lid at the lash line for everyday. Of course the possibilities are endless. Be certain to use the primer included for a long lasting look. Worth every penney. Lancome is one of my favorite luxury retail brands for their fashion forward colors and design. This eyeliner is by far one of the best on the market. Artliner is a fine precision point marker for your eyes. Foolproof some would say. I am trying the SMOKE Artliner for this time of year - being as it's not as harsh as black on my eye and I rather like a little grey definition. Just dark enough for now. Long lasting and pigmented. The Aubergine plum is a close second. Make Up For Ever, Two Faced, Lancome Artliner, LORAC, Dior, Nashville Makeup, 2013 Winter Makeup Trends, 2013 Beauty, Lisa Johnson Makeup Artist, Brides by Lisa

LISA JOHNSON :: MAKEUP + HAIR

HAPPY NEW YEAR! 2013 is here....
The weather outside is nasty. The holiday parties and dinners that once filled the pages of your agenda have been replaced with deadlines and seemingly unending projects. It must be January! If you’ve got the January blues, consider these mood-enhancing beauty products to help perk up your face and mood on even the greyest of winter days.
Euphoryl
This crazy chemical is beginning to pop up all over the makeup world and is said to stimulate the production of dopamine and endorphins promoting happiness, energy, and even sex appeal! The ingredient was created by Laboratoires Sérobiologiques, and is now widely used by drugstore favorite Physician's Formula. Many dermatologists, though, are skeptical about the chemical concentrate, explaining the product would have to include at least 1% Euphoryl to work. Regardless, a pan of Happy Booster Blush or a tube of Happy Booster lipstick won’t set you back more than a few bucks and the pink hearts design is cute enough.
Caffeine
If the dull weather has left your face in need of a pick-me-up, try incorporating a caffeinated product into your routine. For an all-around perky appearance try a caffeinated lotion like Jergens Skin Firming Advanced Moisturizer. It's believed that caffeinated creams may also diminish the appearance of cellulite and fine lines when used over time. A skin latte’ from the fountain of youth! HELLO!??
Aromatherapy
For the naturalists out there that need a beauty cure for the winter blues, essential oils are coming to the rescue. It’s been known that uplifting scents such as peppermint, grapefruit, and lemon can inspire us to think happy thoughts, even on a dreary day. Try creating your own blend of cheery scents at your local health shop, or try a pre-blended product. The new Cowshed collection of roll-on oil blends are personalized for all your daily mood swings. We are loving Grumpy Cow, Lazy Cow, and Wild Cow to get us through till February. Pop one in your purse and roll over pulse points when things get tough.
Color Therapy
It’s said the the right color can turn a frown upside down so what are you doing in that black winter wardrobe? Swap out winter neutrals for neon shades of yellow, red, orange, and fuchsia this season for an instant jolt of energy. Our tips and toes look giddy when glossed over with hot shades like the UV red Radiate by OCC, or bright yellow Cheeky Chops by Butter London. Swipe a best-selling bright such as MAC's Moxie Lipstick across your lips and let the smiling begin.
BEFORE YOU KNOW IT, SPRING WILL BE HERE AND YOUR WINTER BLUES WILL BE FORGOTTEN. Take good care of yourself - you ONLY live once - so make it pretty!

A MUST HAVE PRODUCT IN MY PRO KIT : for everyone - women, girls, men of all ages - it is indispensible and almost invisible with a slight tint. PRO BALM. I also use this on myself, so you KNOW it's good. This is an airbrush makeup effect without the hassle. It blends easily, slightly tinted, blurs imperfections, blots oil and makes skin look super poreless. Some of you can forego foundation if you wish, use a tinted moisturizer over it or your regular foundation - it will make your makeup glide on as smooth as silk, and make your skin soft soft soft. It has a soft gel to powder texture and lasts all day. Waterproof Eye Makeup Products for Summer 2012 ...and the hunt continues. Here are a few waterproof eye products I have tried. These are in my very own beauty bag for moi. Here in the hot, steamy South our summers are BRUTAL with a capital "B" for well, Brutal. It's hot, it's steamy and your makeup unfortunately melts away easily. These eye products will help keep you looking beautiful and like the gorgeous Summer Goddesses you are. *please note that all waterproof eye products do require a waterproof remover, so do purchase one for your bag - or you will risk the torment of tugging, scrubbing and pulling out your lashes - so unattractive. This mermaid-worthy formula endures (I have actually tested it at sea), and the light gel formula never looks cakey. Very lightweight and your lashes will actually be feathery when applied properly. My new go to for steamy summer. Create a smoldering smoky eye that won’t crease after a hot summer night with this cream-to-powder duo. Use your finger for allover color or a thin brush to line. Great color choices and you won't have ugly racoon eyes long after the sun has gone down. Equipped with a flexible foam-tip applicator, this easy-to-use liquid liner stays put all day and is available in 15 vibrant shades. You cannot beat this product line for waterproof-ness. To have 15 shades also is a MAJOR plus! Everyone that knows me KNOWS I'm an MUFE fan - check out THIS BLOG POST.
Removes eye makeup instantly. Cleans delicate eye area without leaving a greasy film. I love this product because it doesn't sting my eyes and is oil free. With waterproof makeup you MUST use a waterproof makeup remover - because of the tugging and scrubbing if you don't use one - and NOBODY wants to see that. Activates when shaken to gently whisk away even waterproof eye makeup, while conditioning and refreshing the skin. Ideal for sensitive skin and contact lens wearers. Leaves eyes feeling cool and relaxed, with no oily residue. A little goes a long way with this soothing product - and I also love it because it doesn't sting my eyes. Look for more waterproof product reviews in the ensuing days - I'm testing waterproof face products next. If you have any favorites or comments on these, I look forward to hearing from you! Please post. I am always thrilled to hear from those who take the time to read my blog :) Waterproof Summer Makeup, 2012 Summer Makeup, L'Oreal, LANCOME, Make Up For Ever, Urban Decay, Smashbox

LISA JOHNSON MAKEUP ARTIST Make Up For Ever Spring/Summer 2012 Aqua Shadows The hunt for waterproof, long lasting eye makeup brings me to the new Make Up For Ever additions to their Aqua line. Check out their 12 new offerings ~ B+ If long lasting, waterproof proof eye makeup is one of your top priorities, the newest Make Up For Ever collection, Aqua Shadows is sure to please - with a little tweaking.... MY REVIEW ~ I found these fairly easy to apply and blend before they became "set". These performed best for me up to 5 hours without creasing. The matte are truly matte and highly pigmented - however, I think setting these with shadow will improve their wearability. The pearl shades are medium pigmented and very buildable - with a beautiful sheen - these tend to last longer than the matte shadows in my view and are very wearable day and night. I recommend these for summer heat waves, swimming, high humidity days and hot sultry evenings dancing the night away. B+ Having worked on several underwater fashion shoots myself, I can testify to their lasting ability - within the limits I described. Useful in humidity and high heat environments - and the color payoff is great. 0E Matte black 2E Matte brown 4E Matte taupe grey 6E Matte navy blue 8E Matte green 20E Pearly taupe 22E Pearly coper 24E Pearly pink 26E Pearly peach 28E Pearly beige 30E Pearly pink beige 32E Pearly white Simplify your summer makeup routine with any of these twelve dazzling, waterproof eyeshadows - offered in matte and pearl textures - new additions to their Aqua collection. $20.00 each photo credit: make up for ever www.makeupforever.com make up for ever, aqua shadows, nashville makeup, florida makeup, california makeup, waterproof makeup, spring 2012 makeup, summer 2012 makeup, 2012 makeup trends

LISA JOHNSON MAKEUP ARTIST Brides by Lisa - Nashville Bridal Makeup Specialist What's new in my makeup arsenal? Well, in my personal makeup bag - for those quick seconds I have between clients' beauty sessions - these are a few products I use consistently - they work for me and I'm a woman over 40 (something) - you need to give these a try - at ANY age. GIORGIO ARMANI LASTING SILK UV COMPACT - LUXURY. I use this throughout the day - technically a foundation (use wet or dry). Formulated for normal to oily skin. Even though I am Over 40, I tend to oil up during the day. Velvety and soft coverage. A very high UV protection to preserve from premature ageing signs thanks to SPF 34 and PA+++ 8-hour resistant veil & color. TIP: NOT SUITABLE FOR PHOTOSHOOTS due to the high SPF content. Pricey, but you're worth it :) MAKE UP FOR EVER AQUA CREAM - I especially love the colors Pink Beige, Taupe and Peach - they're super lustrous and waterproof - I use these as a base also for powder eyeshadow for a quick night look. They go on smooth and resist smearing or fading. This entire line is PERFECTION. These come in 22 amazing shades - and you can use them on your cheeks and lips too. TIP: make sure to use an eye cream to moisturize your eye area prior to using - these creams dry quickly and stay put. A little goes a long way. LANCOME TEINT MIRACLE INSTANT RETOUCH PEN - This is about the best pen I have used so far that actually has coverage and not just "lightener" for the undereye area. I, of course, use my concealer in the morning and use this portable pen thru the day - its highly pigmented, very hydrating and covers. I'm a huge fan of LANCOME products - anyone that knows me knows this :) TIP: pat don't rub the concealer into the corner of your eye to about 1/2 across under your eye - this covers without that "racoon" eye look - a little dab will do ya. LANCOME L'ABSOLU ROUGE LIPSTICK - I cannot say enough about this lipstick - (I told you I loved this brand) it is so nurturing, hydrating and lasts - a very creamy lipstick that is beautiful - comes in 28 amazing shades. Infused with moisture-boosting Pro-Xylane™, lips stay moist, soft and comfortable for up to 8 hours. Antioxidant-rich Vitamin E and SPF 12 help keep lips safe from environmental aggressors. Perfect formula for anyone wanting anti-aging benefits. My personal favorite color is Berry Noir - for the winter and holidays - a perfect cranbery (blue) red. TIP: to keep your lipstick from bleeding - apply foundation to your lips as well as your face - powder lightly then line and fill in your lips with a complimenting or matching lip pencil - sharpen it every single time you use to ensure a perfect pout.

The terms "VEGAN" or "SUSTAINABLE" "ECO-Friendly" are very popular - people are more discerning of what products they choose to purchase - for many reasons. Synthetic brushes have come a LONG way in the past year or so - due to several companies on the market answering that demand. Bdellium Tools makes both hand made, natural hair and synthetic professional makeup artist brushes - their series: Maestro, Studio, Travel, Green Bambu. I chose the Green Bambu Series and have to say they are incredibly SOFT and very dense. Not only is their color unusual, but also appeals asthetically and looks FRESH. They impressed me immediately when I felt them in my hand and moreso when I applied makeup on my own face. SUPER SOFT! Travel size - about an inch smaller than your regular pro brush length - they are not miniature brushes - they are just shortened handles - same size brush head. Check out their video REVIEWS . These are going to fly out the door once words gets around... I LOVE THESE VEGAN BRUSHES! Above: I highly recommend starting your eco-friendly brush collection from Bdellium with the 4 piece foundation brush set, shown above - they are also easy on the pocket book for professional brushes. Buy HERE.

Lisa Johnson ~ Brides by Lisa: Posted on Thursday, March 24, 2011 1:16 AM
I'm asked often about oil
control and mattifying products - timely because higher temperatures and
Summer are right around the corner - meaning more oil production
usually. Mattifying gels and lotions are great to use either alone
without any makeup - this gives the appearance of perfect pores and
luminosity without that oil slick - also under your foundation - mixed
in with your foundation (as in the Make Up For Ever product) - and
applied over your makeup for extra shine and oil control. This summer
try any of these application tips for your perfect complexion.
MAKE UP FOR EVER
All Mat
Face Matifying Primer
The All Mat Matifying Primer formula is based on an oil-free and
colorless powdered gel providing extreme comfort. Designed to absorb
the excess of sebum, it leaves the skin soft without a hint of shine.
TIP: All Mat can also be
used as a make up primer. Applied in a thin and even layer (I use a
foundation brush), it makes make up application easier and provides
long-lasting results. It can easily be blended with a foundation or make
up primer to enhance the matifying properties of make up.
FACE TO FACE
Super Matte Antishine
This innovative product has been uniquely formulated to matte the shine
of oily skin. Most of the large makeup manufacturers have tried to
duplicate this product with no success. Super Matte Antishine has been used by leading film and television
actors. It leaves skin feeling fresh and taut and won't produce that
"caked on" feeling you get from powder. It is available in three sheer
shades: light, medium, and dark. Antishine is great not only for women,
but also for men's palms, foreheads and balding scalps. (Always in my
professional kit.)
PETER THOMAS ROTH
Anti-Shine Mattifying Gel
An advanced mattifying gel formulated with powerful oil absorbing and
pore minimizing properties. Absorbs shine and controls excess oil and
perspiration on contact without stripping skin’s natural moisture. Helps
makeup stay fresh longer while creating a lasting, clear, satiny
matte finish.
TIP: A perfect product for men too!

(BE SURE TO CLICK THE LINKS/PRODUCT NAMES FOR THEIR WEBSITES)
HOW DO THEY LOOK SO FRESH? In my line of work I run across a
plethora (I love that word) of beauty and skin products every single
day. It can be intimidating even for me in the business - I can only
imagine how it is for my clients. What to buy, what to try, what on
earth to TRUST?
Here are a couple of great products I recommend and to whom:
This gentle
resurfacing cream contains the exclusive PROmc3, an earth mineral
complex of Calcium, Magnesium, and Aluminum along with hydrating Jojoba
Beads that leave your skin looking youthful, healthy and clear. TIP: I
recommend this for everyone that needs a special de-DULLifying - which
frankly is everyone - use sparingly, GENTLY and no more than 2x a week
on average. Overuse will cause skin problems. Less in this case is
more. An amazing product for most all - but those with skin eruptions
or major acne. Avoid the eye area.
This gentle, exfoliating mask harnesses the natural power of
cranberry enzymes and lactic acid to tenderly scrub away facial
impurities and decongest blocked pores. As active ingredients
exfoliate, protect and revitalize the skin, potent, oil-free
moisturizers add a dewy softness to blemish-prone skin. TIP: Safe to use after your gentle cleanser 2-3x per week. Avoid
the eye area. Pure Enzymes is a great way to “clean up” the last
traces of sloughing skin following a peel and jumpstart the recovery
process. For best results, apply five days after peel.
Immediate lifting, lasting repositioning*. Inspired by eye-lifting
surgical techniques, Rénergie Microlift Eye R.A.R.E.™ Lifter Helps
recreate a younger, lifted look in the delicate eye area. At the same
time, the unique R.A.R.E.™ oligopeptide helps to re-bundle collagen**.
The eye contour regains a visibly lifted smoother, naturally youthful
look. TIP: WHAT DO I SAY? THIS STUFF JUST PLAIN WORKS. It's simply
amazing and I recommend it for everyone over 35. Those younger girls
can switch over to the Renergie Eye line for their own perfect formula.

Two of my favorite - little known - mascara products to try for Spring 2011
There
are SO many incredible new products out each season and mascara is no
exception - you can find many great mascaras at any price point from
drugstore finds to dept store and boutique finds. Finding just the
right formula, color, texture and type takes a little trial and error.
I carry these in my kit as well as
the usual suspects I adore that are more popular - such as Dior Show, L'Oreal Voluminous,
Lancome Definicils, and many more. You might just like these too... and
don't just stick with black - try blue, purple, aubergine and dark
brown (lower lash trick)... add to your mascara "wardrobe" for fun!
Publicity Stunt Lashes WOW! kinda lashes that last! 3-Day Long-Wearing Mascara
LORAC’S NEW BREAKTHROUGH MASCARA PULLS A PUBLICITY STUNT…UNBELIEVABLY GORGEOUS LASHES THAT LAST UP TO 3 DAYS!
This revolutionary 3-Day Long-Wearing Mascara creates long, lush lashes
that are gym-proof, cry-proof and Red Carpet beauty-proof. Its ultra
lightweight long-wearing formula is loaded with natural ingredients,
created from an innovative new technology, allows you to take a break
from re-applying your mascara every day without it smudging, budging or
flaking for up to 3 days.

Have a peek - and get out the drool bib...
GRAY/PINK
Dior Spring 2011 Makeup Collection I always love the beginning of a New Year. It's like a clean slate of sorts. It's also the time I like to see what trends are coming back around or what is new and fresh - especially for my love - MAKEUP. One beautiful trend that is really a bit of the old and new mixed - some older more retro packaging with a fresh approach to color compared to some of the runway's bold fashion color this year - is the trend for soft gray and soft pinks and corals - two of my favorite colors for bridal makeup. Muted, elegant and refined greys and pinks. For Spring I am drawn to DIOR SPRING 2011 and will be incorporating these into my bridal palettes for my special clients. SPRING 2011 MAKEUP TRENDS

An "obsession" among brides If you think you've been obsessing about your hair and makeup, you're not alone. No longer content to simply hire a stylist and makeup artist for the big day and cross the task from their lists, brides are booking with beauty pros months — occasionally, years — before their nuptials. By forming a close bond with their beauty team brides hope to resolve ahead of time such questions as "Should I grow out my hair for the wedding? How do I want my makeup to appear? How will I look in my pictures?" Makeup artists are responding by providing more customized services, and increasingly, offering their expertise for the other events surrounding the wedding, from the bridesmaids' luncheon to the engagement photos. I think with the greater focus today on celebrities, there is a heightened awareness among brides of the detail that goes into hair and makeup. They also see there's no longer such a thing as bridal hair or bridal makeup (thankfully!) and there is more of a range of modern styles to choose from. I've been very lucky, having done destination weddings in the Caribbean, Mexico, California and New York. I'm known for my elegant natural bridal beauty as well and calming demeanor, which go a long way toward easing wedding-day jitters. I'm usually a good person to calm the bride, especially when she's far from home, because I'm sort of the neutral party there. The trial run through Brides are consulting makeup artists earlier than in the past. Some up to three and six months ahead, though some brides schedule a makeup run-through even before they book the reception site. These run-throughs are strongly encouraged by makeup pros. After a trial the bride is relaxed and happy to see me coming through the door on her wedding day, because she's already confident about what I'll be doing. Savvy brides tend to already have an idea of what they want, and need some help fine-tuning their vision. Usually a woman who comes to me is very detail-oriented, and so we'll do a run-through first. Plus, she needs to feel good about the people working with her that day. The makeup artist and the hairdresser are going to be working very close to her, so she needs to feel comfortable with them. More brides are viewing their makeup as crucial to the look of the event. When somebody is getting married at Cheekwood and spending $50,000 for her gown, it's a comparatively small amount of time and expense to make sure you have a makeup artist and hairdresser who's taking good care of you. Just as brides collect photos of hairstyles they like, they should do the same with makeup looks. It's good to have a visual like magazine tearsheets, because your idea of a smoky eye might be different from mine. The beauty team Though a bride may be in love with a look that's hot this season, pro makeup artists advise against following anything too current, at least when it comes to the wedding day. I like to notice the woman, not the makeup ~ so I generally do a very natural bride. I make sure the skin looks really perfect and the colors are of nature. Nothing too trendy or dated. Picking the right beauty team for your wedding may be one of the most important things you do. At the end of the day, all you have are your photographs, and if you hate your hair and makeup that will haunt you forever.

Okay, a little levity and fun here! When preparing for your wedding many women think this means more makeup, more hair. Think again... :: THESE IMAGES ARE DEFINATE DON'Ts (except for Liz) :: DON'T 1. Too Much! — Less is more. Let your makeup and hair compliment YOU, your dress and accessories. You want a complete and finished look that compliments you and makes you feel at ease. Ahem... DON'T 2. Too Trendy — Sure today everyone is wearing Hello Kitty pearly pink, but 5 years from now you want to look at photos that have a timeless, classic and clean face. Don’t "date" your photos with super shimmer. Go with matte, neutral makeup colors and textures - you'll thank me later. DON'T 3. Makeup that is not you —If you never wear much makeup, don’t walk down the aisle or show up at a party looking like you lost a fight with a Drag Queen. Let your professional makeup artist help you determine the most flattering makeup look for you. Or as I always say - You, only better! ;) Fabulous! NOT... DON'T 4. Matchy-Matchy — Let your wedding party keep their personalities (and dignity) in tact and wear looks that suit them. Don’t give everyone bright shadows to match the dresses. Also, and I'm just going to say it - don't let that one friend who wants to shine above THE BRIDE do so. You know the one! Keep a cohesive, polished look for the entire party. That way everyone will get their chance to shine - especially for the formal pictures. Again, pretty and classic will win the day for most all weddings. (Yes, I'm showing bridesmaid dresses, but I think you get my point.) DON'T 5. Waiting until the last minute to look for your hair and makeup artist — I get a lot of last minute, frantic wedding day makeup inquiries. Please look a year ahead or so to find and book your wedding makeup artist and hairstylists - if you're spending a small fortune on wedding photos - do hire a professional to be a part of your "team". Compared to florals - which don't last past the week (don't get me wrong, florists are essential too) - your makeup and hair will be showcased in your photos for life. Just a consideration. :) Liz or Donatella? Which one are you? DON'T 6. Doing Too Much — so many brides rush out at the last minute to do too much - spray on tans, fake nails, facials - and end up with major flare ups, skin eruptions, bad tan jobs, etc. You've seen the pictures. You've heard the stories. Try not to deviate from you regular skincare routine. Continue to eat well, exercise, drink lots and lots of water, sleep 8+ hours (ha!) and try to avoid excessive intake of alcohol and caffeine (haha!) This is a MAJOR NO-NO to do too much all at once. Plan months ahead for any of your skin care changes, tanning (please don't be an OOMPALOOMPA!) and such. Please be a Liz and NOT a Donatella - in the tanning department...just sayin... DON'T 7. No Touch Ups — any great makeup artist will tell you that you do need a touch up or two. You will need blotting papers or powder to control face shine before photos, lipstick to reapply. Have a designated "beauty helper" to keep an eye out for you if they see you may need a little something and touch up. DON'T 8. Wrong look for you and your wedding style — magazines are great tools for inspiration - but remember we're talking about models, plastic surgery in some cases AND major photography editing - plus what looks good on someone in a magazine may not suit you. A common mistake is choosing a look that is super glamorous for their simple garden theme (the smokey eye and the pale Pam Anderson lip are common- OY!) Coordinate your look to the time of your event and wedding. And remember you can NEVER go wrong with classic clean beauty for your wedding. (I love Pammy, but not for most wedding looks... unless it's Vegas!) DON'T 9. Too shiney — I haven’t met a bride who didn’t want a “dewey” shining cheek. Careful because it can look super oily in photos. Opt with a small bit of highlighting on cheekbones or eyes, but not your entire face. This is the time to ditch the mineral makeup look as well - shimmer is not your friend for pictures. Pro brands are your friend and a professional makeup artist will know these particular brands (not retail, generally). Careful - slippery gloss ahead... DON'T 10. Sticky situation — Weddings mean you kiss a lot and tend to dance a whole lot! Smears are not fun. Keep lips creamy, stained or matte for best results. Too much gloss is just a sticky mess usually - difficult to maintain. YOU, only better! TM
